Declan - One Month Old

Declan is one month old today! It has definitely flown by. Brent and I were just talking about how we haven't really had any downtime in the month to enjoy him or life. First Calli had the stomach bug. Then we/I had a bridal show and we moved my office. (I didn't go to the show, but I had a booth at the show that we went down and set up.) The next week was relatively quiet with a mini-shoot Saturday. The following week we had Calli's birthday party when Nana, Pop, Aunt Jackie, Uncle Chris, Taylor, Grace and Emma all came to visit for the party and to meet Declan. Very fun, but not exactly relaxing. Then this weekend, we had Grandma and PawPaw here and Lana had the stomach bug (so not fun) and then Brent did.

I guess the good news is that Declan is an easy baby who is very very flexible. He's rolled with all the ups and downs of the last month. He rarely cries unless there's something he needs - like food or a diaper change or burbs. He's the best snuggler ever - seriously, just so cuddly and warm and he loves to just sleep and sleep there (less so in his crib or away from us). He actually does sleep well for a newborn. If nothing else, he goes right back to sleep after eating and isn't up for hours in the middle of the night. He's so funny. He's got to be the most expressive baby I've ever seen. He smiles, frowns, furrows his brow and laughs in his sleep. He's smiled at us a few times (I think) and just is so happy. We can't complain.

AND he's decided to take after his biggest sister, Lana. Lana rolled over (tummy to back) at 19 days old. Everyone told me it was a fluke and she wouldn't do it again for months. Instead, she kept doing it day after day all the time. Well, Declan has already started too. He started yesterday rolling tummy to back doing it a number of times and is still doing it today. He even has Lana's technique of rolling. He throws his head over first and let's the weight of that take the rest of him over. It's too funny but a bit unnerving. I was really hoping he would do things later rather than earlier. I just know he's going to be a terror climbing the walls (literally) in a few months!

Anyway, a pic from yesterday just to show how much he's grown. He's getting ready to roll over. Look at how strong he is.

Well that month flew by! He looks fabulous. Here's hoping that the coming months bring lots of fun but also some quiet times to just relax!
