Weekend with Grandma & PawPaw

Well, we had a very busy weekend this weekend. Not only did we have Jules' birthday party, but Grandma and PawPaw were here to see the girls. The girls had a great time, though they're still recovering. We had a very very busy day. Saturday was quiet enough, playing with Grandma and PawPaw around the house while I had meetings all morning and then Jules' birthday party in the afternoon. A few weeks ago, I found out about a little shop in Grapevine that does character events and little tea parties from time to time. Of course, they were having breakfast with Cinderella this Sunday and we just had to go. Lana was in heaven! There were 6 little girls there (not including Calli) with their moms (and grandmas). Talk about one-on-one attention! Anyway, Cinderella made balloon animals, painted the girls faces and then had one of the best storytimes I've ever been to. She told the story of Cinderella (in the first person point of view) andLana was just enthralled. Even Calli loved it, though she got a bit restless during the storytime. Still, it was a great morning.


Somehow, we decided to head to the zoo for the afternoon. Despite being totally crazy with tons of people, the girls had a blast showing Grandma and PawPaw all the animals (especially the lion cubs, Lana's favorites).


Anyway, it was a busy weekend, but the girls seemed to have a great time!

Grandma and PawPaw's Visit

Grandma and PawPaw were here last weekend. We were making up for our San Antonio trip that we had to cancel when Ike was coming through. It was a short visit, but I think the girls really enjoy it. Lana and Calli stayed up to say hi on Friday night when they got in. Then Lana and Grandma made an art project Saturday morning so Grandma would have some new art to put up at home while Calli played with PawPaw and then took a nap.




After Calli's nap, we all went to our church festival. It was a lot of fun. Lana loved all the little kid games. Both the girls got their faces painted and loved it. Ok, Calli didn't notice much but I thought it was cute and Lana loved doing it "together" so that made Calli happy. I even "won" a basket of goodies (silent auction). Grandma also got Lana a bunch of books and we got a tree that we had fun trying to get home.








After Lana's "nap" (where she didn't sleep again), Lana and Grandma played outside while Brent grilled and then snuggled up to read her new books before bed.

Grandma and PawPaw's visit

Lana was so excited to have Grandma and Pawpaw here to visit for the weekend. Unfortunately, life got crazy since they booked their trip but I think they all seemed to have a good time. Poor Grandma and Pawpaw had weather troubles and whatnot coming in so they got in a few hours late on Saturday. Sunday, they were so much help getting set up for Lana's party. Monday was a nice quiet day for all of us just relaxing most of the day recovering from Lana's party and then we went out to dinner, which Lana loved. Tuesday, Grandma even visited school with me to help me bring in Lana's cupcakes. Here are just a few images from their visit:

A Swimmer

So we finally convinced Lana to get in the new pool. Lana's always scared of water over her head and it always takes her a while to get comfortable with it. Today, I convinced her to sit on the ladder and throw her new Dora (meant for the tub but works for the pool).


Then she agreed to go get Dora with me holding her "very tightly". After that, she was "swimming" pretty soon.

Grandma and PawPaw's Visit

Grandma and PawPaw made it in for a quick visit this weekend. It was great for them to get a chance to meet Calli and Lana loved playing with Grandma and showing her all her new toys. Here are a few photos from their visit.

Visit to Grandma and PawPaw's

Well we just got back from Grandma and PawPaw's and it was a bit of a rough trip but it got better from there. We decided to drive it on July 3rd, which I still think made the most sense, but it turned out to be an 11 hour drive with stops for dinner and gas and such. This would probably have been fine if Lana had actually fallen to sleep around the usual time in the car since we left at 2pm. Unfortunately, Lana didn't fall asleep almost the entire ride there. She wasn't screaming so we were lucky, but she wasn't happy either. Next time we'll definitely stop both on the way there and on the way back. Getting into a strange place at 1:00am is not the best idea either as we found out. Lana was so overtired that she just had a meltdown that night and wouldn't do anything except lay on top of me. This would have been fine except I was also exhausted and my morning sickness is worst at night. I can honestly say that one of the worst places to be when you're feeling nauseous is laying on your back with a hot baby on top of you. Finally around 5am, Lana was willing to go to Brent and/or sleep in between us for the rest of the night. We all took a lot of naps the next day.

On July 4th, we went to a cookout at Grandma's cousin's house. They had great food. Lana loved the cheesy potatoes and tomatoes especially. She tried to play with the other two little kids there, but she's so much tinier than them that she had trouble getting a turn. She's also not quite used to being around kids that are so rough with little ones. We left early because we all were still exhausted.

After that, we had a fairly relaxing time. Lana and I took lots of naps. Lana played in the pool that Grandma got her and with her new bubble lawn mower - or at least had Brent push the lawn mower so she could play with the bubbles. She can't quite go fast enough or press down hard enough to make the bubbles come out herself, but she loved playing with them.






On Saturday, we started our drive back. The drive back was so much easier than the one there. First, we stopped off at Brent's Mamma Crowe (his nanny from when he was little), who is going to be 93 this year. She loved seeing Lana. I need to send her more pictures. She had the ones I sent her at Christmas up in her room. She even managed to come to our wedding and still asks after my grandfather and Annette, who she chatted with. Sharp as anything and loves life. You can't ask for anything more.



Then we spent the night in a little hotel in Little Rock right by the airport. It wasn't anything fancy, but it worked perfectly for us. We drove the rest of the way on Sunday and Lana only got a tiny bit fussy right towards the end after we'd gotten through Dallas and were almost home. She was so excited to get home to her things and her dogs. She ran through the house looking at everything and petting the dogs.

Weekend with Granny and PawPaw

Granny and PawPaw came to visit this weekend and Lana just loved it. It took her a little bit of time to warm up to them, but once she did she was crawling all over them. Unfortunately, I had to work on Saturday so there aren't a ton of pictures, but here's Lana playing with PawPaw.


We also got her little climbing thing set up in the playroom. I thought about putting it outside, but she's got a lot outside and I thought the dogs might take it over like they have her other outside toys. She's still a little bit too little for it and doesn't quite understand what to do with it yet, but it's only a matter of time before she starts climbing all over it.

And here's the cute little couch/futon thing Granny and PawPaw got Lana. I was hoping it would give her somewhere to sit when she's watching one of her shows or something when she's first waking up for a nap. Right now she just sits with me on the couch, but I don't want to leave her alone on the couch since she would just fall off and I don't really feel like watching Barney. She doesn't really think it's good for sitting, but she thinks it's a lot of fun for playing with or climbing.

Granny and PawPaw's visit

So Granny and PawPaw were here this weekend for our belated Christmas. They came in Friday and just left. Lana loved playing with them and all the extra attention. We tried to do some pics of them with Lana and whatnot. I think they came out pretty well.



PawPaw helped Brent build a little craft table for Lana while Granny and I went shopping. I found out last week that most of Lana's 3-6 month clothes are too small, but all her 6-9 month clothes are for Spring. We went a bit overboard, but we found some really cute outfits and tried to stock up for next year too.

Granny and PawPaw also brought Lana a new rocking horse. It's really cute and it even makes noises. Lana was a little scared of it at first, but she got used to it. She's still much too small to ride it, but she likes to pet it and use it to stand up. I know she'll love riding it when she gets older.


Lana also got to try some Girl Scout cookies. She just loved the Thin Mints.

Weekend with the Ross Grandparents

Granny and PawPaw were here this weekend from Friday to Sunday. Lana really seemed to love having them around and playing with them. She especially loved to grab PawPaw's nose and mouth (I think she thought he was funny looking) and show him her new toy - her exersaucer.


Granny and Lana had fun trying to eat lunch and dinner. Granny was deturmined that Lana should eat like a Lady, but Lana was just as deturmined to feed herself and help. I think Lana was just really having some fun with Granny and they seemed to enjoy the game a lot.


We all went to the park on Friday afternoon and Lana loved having Granny pushing her in the swings. It was a little bright for her, but she didn't want to stop.


She even went down the slide with Daddy once. (We weren't sure if Daddy would fit or not, but we thought she was a little bit small to be sitting up on her own.)

We took Granny shopping on Saturday and Lana loved looking at all the shops. And of course, she had to show off for Granny and PawPaw by sitting up as best she can. I'm sure she's going to be sitting like a champ in a week or two. She's almost sitting straight up now, but then she flops over trying to grab something.


After such an exciting weekend, Lana was exhausted. She fell sound asleep in her highchair eating her dinner tonight and slept for almost an hour.


When she woke up, we gave her a bath and put her straight to bed.
